Selecting Interior Decorators

When you are selecting an interior decorator, there are some factors that you should consider. Here are the tips that will make your interviewing the perfect interior decorator vying to make your dream home and create the perfect selection in your room!

Prep yourself – Know what is the use of your rooms you are going to decorate, the style, any idea you have in mind for your space and anything you’re obstinate about that you do not have in your rooms before you contact the interior decorator. When the room is absolutely empty, write down your ideas for the kinds of the pieces you would like to utilize but if there is already furniture, determine if there is anything you can salvage because the interior decorator will probably use it for design.

Gather Tools – List the possible interior decorators. Make use of your available resources. Call your friends for recommendations, browse magazines and write down the names of the interior decorators that are responsible in the looks that you like. Communicate with CID to check for a list of decorators in your place and do not hesitate to use the internet. Make a quality checklist for styles and ideas you would like the decorator to have. This list will help when you are making notes and interviewing.

Narrow it down – At your first attempt you will list a number of possible interior decorators. To reduce the number to be manageable you can begin using their portfolios online to know which will be suitable. The moment you have a smaller list, call the interior decorator that you feel can be the quality of the decorator you wanted. Use your phone to narrow your list and schedule a visitation to their office to see their personal style.

Case the space – Meet the interior decorators who have potential in the room you are planning to work on. Be brave enough to ask about portfolio pieces and if any could be incorporated into the décor of your home. Observe the interior decorator, if he/she is attentive and he/she understands the requirements in your room and the person that will use it. You need to be working as team for your vision to become reality. Finally, don’t be afraid. Even if you are not an expert in interior decoration but you’re an expert on your own vision ultimately.

The winner is – There is only a sole winner to all the decorators. You will only select one to be your decorator. Narrow down all your possibilities and possible decorators until you end with the decorator who looks so inspired by the project that he/she is going to handle. Verify your ideas and confirm any specific things that you have discussed with them, like your budget and your time table. Write down all the things you discussed to see if you understand each other very well and that the project will be realized. The moment you choose your decorator, call the other interior decorators and acknowledge them for lending their time.

Note: Put these tips in your mind when choosing a decorator. Make sure that you keep your research for you might need it in the future or to help some friend that needed a decorator or a back up when things go wrong.

Design Your Dining Room with Small Areas

All you need to do to get your dining room design going is think and plan. The main thing to think about is what purpose that small space is going to serve. This applies for any room. There are many families who use their dining room for purposes other than eating. Many families use the dining room as a place to do paperwork, pay bills and things of that nature. It may be a space for your children to study, do homework or craft projects. If you have small spaces in your home, your dining room might even serve as your office with your desk and computer.

Using Your Furnishings for Multiple Purposes
Once you have figured out all of the uses for the small space, designing your dining room will be an easier task. Choosing the table size and chair amounts are all dependent on how big your family is and how often you will have extra guests. All of your other furnishings should serve multiple tasks. You could purchase a buffet that has drawers where you can put not only your linens, but other supplies that you will need like craft supplies, tape, pens, paper and envelopes. You can conceal your computer and other supplies rather well by incorporating an armoire. Some of these armoires even have a full size drawer to use for files.

Be Creative with Your Furnishings
You may think that using a corner hutch for your glassware is an excellent space saver. However, another great option is a barrister bookcase. It has a great capacity and you can use several different shelves for several different storage purposes. Maybe use one or two shelves for your glassware and dishes and a few shelves for books. You can use a dresser as your buffet. This will benefit you by giving you plenty of drawer space. The most important thing for you to do is keep the room clean as well as clutter free. If not, the space will seem even smaller and messy all of the time. You can do this by putting the right furnishings in that will not only be functional but give your room a nice design.
